If you are having difficulty preparing a cooked meal we can arrange for hot or frozen meals to be delivered to your home. Community Meals, often known as 'meals on wheels', can help ensure that people receive proper nutrition on a daily basis, whatever their circumstances.

Community meals

The Council works with the community meals supplier, Apetito, who can deliver nutritionally balanced meals to your home. Hot meals can be delivered daily in foil containers, or frozen meals can be provided on a fortnightly basis. In addition, Apetito can also supply afternoon tea, which is a sandwich, cake and a piece of fruit.

A typical hot or frozen meal will consist of a main course of meat or fish with vegetables and a hot, or cold, dessert. Meals for those with special dietary needs are also available.

We recommend that you eat the hot meals soon after delivery and do not try to reheat them.

How it works

If you, or a family member or friend, has problems getting the right level of nutrition and would benefit from receiving community meals, please contact the Council on 0208 891 7971. They will discuss your situation and what type of service you need. If you decide you would like to use the community meals service they will ask Apetito to get in touch with you to make the arrangements.

How much does it cost?

The cost you will need to pay for a two course hot meal is £6.75, the cost of afternoon tea is £3.25 and the cost for a frozen meal is £3.55.
