NHS Choices

The NHS Choices website aims to personalise healthcare and provide information that will enable people to make a choice about when and where to receive their treatment.

This is a comprehensive information service that helps to put you in control of your healthcare. It helps you make choices about your health, from lifestyle decisions about things like smoking, drinking and exercise, through to the practical aspects of finding and using NHS services when you need them.

What is available?

The NHS Choices website provides a wide range of advice and guidance to help you keep warm and well during periods of cold weather. There is also a 'Keep Warm, Keep Well' leaflet available, giving top tips on staying well in cold weather for those over 60, low income families and for people living with a disability. Flu

Flu is an infectious and common viral illness spread by coughs and sneezes.  It's not the same as the common cold. Flu is caused by a different group of viruses. Symptoms tend to be more severe and last longer.  You can catch flu – short for influenza – all year round, but it is especially common in winter, which is why it is also known as "seasonal flu".
